Every result in NFL feeds a streak somewhere, and a few of them have now grown big enough to deserve names. Everything below comes straight off the results; nothing fancier than counting.
As of this morning, eleven different teams are riding runs of three or more in one direction or the other, a busy board by any standard.
The teams stacking wins
The longest active run belongs to Cincinnati Bengals: five consecutive wins. Nobody stays hot forever, but while it lasts, every night has looked like a rerun of the same comfortable movie.
Buffalo Bills are building a case of their own at 5 straight.
San Francisco 49ers join the party at 4 straight.
The skids
On the other side of the ledger, Houston Texans have dropped five straight. Losing streaks carry their own gravity, the pressing starts, the bounces stop cooperating, and close games keep finding the same ending.
It is not much prettier for Miami Dolphins, losers of 5 straight.
And Indianapolis Colts are quietly carrying a 4-game slide of their own.
