Every result in MLB feeds a streak somewhere, and a few of them have now grown big enough to deserve names. Everything below comes straight off the results; nothing fancier than counting.
As of this morning, twelve different teams are riding runs of three or more in one direction or the other, a busy board by any standard.
The win-column crowd
Cleveland Guardians just keep stacking, five wins in a row, the best active streak going. At some point a run stops being a coincidence and starts being a statement, and they are somewhere past that point.
Behind them, San Diego Padres have quietly won 5 in a row.
Add Pittsburgh Pirates to the list too, 4 in a row.
Going the wrong way
The skid to watch belongs to Athletics, losers of six in a row. Runs like this always end eventually; the only question is how much damage gets done before they do.
Kansas City Royals are on a slide of their own at 4 straight losses.
Miami Marlins have lost 3 straight themselves, in case anyone at the cold end needed company.
